Military Road Meeting for Saturday, January 21

The “Friends of the Hubbardton Military Road” will be meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21 at the Castleton Free Library, at 638 Main Street in Castleton, Vermont.

The first agenda item will be to formalize the Friends of the Hubbardton Military Road into a committee of the Crown Point Road Association, a long-established membership organization with non-profit legal status.  The public is invited to visit the www.crown-point-road.org/ website and to notice the hike blog pages.  The annual membership prices include the $3 senior/student rate, the $5 individual rate, and the $8 family rate.

The second agenda item is to brainstorm ideas for Friends of the Hubbardton Military Road to consider for potential projects during 2012 and 2013, such as hikes, mapping research, printing a re-supply of Joseph Wheeler’s 1968 book on the topic, programs, bus tours, and marking the route with signs where the military road crosses public highways.

Everyone is welcome to attend.  The meeting will take place in the basement of the library.  Anyone with mobility challenges or who uses a wheelchair may park on the west side of the library and approach the accessible basement entrance at the back of the building.  Light refreshments will be available.

For more information, the public may call the committee chair, Tom Hughes, at 802-388-2967.
