RESOLUTION OF MOUNT INDEPENDENCE COALITION

The undersigned, being all of the Directors of The Mount Independence Coalition, Incorporated (the "Coalition"), upon approval of the membership assembled at the Annual Meeting held this 14th Day of October, 2006, hereby consent to the following:

WHEREAS, the Coalition wishes to acknowledge the significant, continuing and longstanding work of J. Robert Maguire, of Shoreham, Vermont, to promote scholarship, knowledge and understanding of the history of Lake Champlain during the 18th century in general, and the history of Mount Independence and Fort Ticonderoga in particular, as well as his seminal achievement during the 1970's in successfully leading opposition to the development of a nuclear power plant within a mile and a half of Mount Independence, an act which preserved the character of this enormously significant Revolutionary War site for generations to come: and

WHEREAS, the Directors believe that it is singularly appropriate to provide a suitable memorial so that future generations who become acquainted with Mount Independence will learn of the valuable contributions of J. Robert Maguire:

It is now hereby

RESOLVED, that henceforth the Coalition shall dedicate at least one lecture per year on a historic topic pertaining to Mount Independence, as part of a continuing series to be known as "The J. Robert Maguire Lecture Series" and so promulgated to the general public.
